wonderland will travel to Florida this December: we’re invited to take part in Punctum Contra Punctum II, American Edition, opening December 11th, 2013, at the Sydney & Berne Davis Arts Center in Fort Myers, Florida.
We will show works photographed in Germany and in America as well as our film looking for wonderland, which we will also present one night during the exhibition – but more on that once we know the details …

Fast ein Jahr haben wir daran gearbeitet, jetzt ist es endlich soweit: am 09. April werden wir in Hamburg unser neues Buch auf der suche nach wonderland vorstellen, das zum ersten Mal eine Kombination aus Fotobuch, Erzählung und Film ist. Wir wollen Euch ganz herzlich einladen, diesen Abend mit uns zu feiern, der gleichzeitig die Ausstellungseröffnung ist – wir zeigen Bilder aus dem wonderland-Projekt, den Film über die Reise durch Amerika und machen eine kleine Lesung mit Live-Musik.

It’s been almost a year that we worked on our latest book looking for wonderland, that for the first time is a combination of photobook, narration and film – and on April 9th we will finally release it. So if you’re in the Hamburg, Germany, area we would be more than happy to see you on

Amerikazentrum, Sandtorkai 48, 20457 Hamburg, Germany.
We will celebrate the opening of our exhibition of wonderland images and the book release with a reading, live music and the film about our trip through America. And if you can’t make it on the 9th you will at least be able to see the exhibition until April 30th 2013.

Heute sind Vorab-Exemplare von auf der suche nach wonderland aus der Druckerei gekommen – und … es sieht klasse aus, die Arbeit hat sich gelohnt. Herzlichen Dank an Florian Riedel, der das Buch mit uns gestaltet hat und an Ingbert Rauch, René Kühn und die ganze Mannschaft bei Kraft Druck in Ettlingen für einen tollen Job. Jetzt fehlt nur noch die Verpackung, denn wir werden das Buch gemeinsam mit der DVD anbieten. Und am 09.04. ist es soweit … – aber dazu später mehr.
Today we received first copies of looking for wonderland – and … it looks wonderful, well worth all the work and effort. So here’s a sincere thank you to Florian Riedel, who designed the book with us and to Ingbert Rauch, René Kühn and the whole team at Kraft Druck (the print shop) for doing a fantastic job. Now all there’s left is the packaging since we will offer the book together with the DVD. And then, April 9th, we will celebrate … – but more about that later.

Es ist soweit – auf der suche nach / looking for wonderland wird als Buch und DVD-Kombination das Licht der Welt erblicken. Wir haben die Reinzeichnung, die Druckerei ist ausgewählt und hat die Daten bereits erhalten, Proofs sind gemacht und freigegeben – in zwei Tagen ist Druckabnahme. Das bedeutet: die Tage sind gezählt, bis wir es in den Händen halten … endlich!
We did it – the book and DVD combination auf der suche nach / looking for wonderland will see the light of day. Final artwork is done, the printer selected and they already received the data, proofs are made and signed off – and in two days we will go and supervise the printing. Which means we can count the days before the real thing will hit the shelves … finally!
For all those who did not yet get a chance to go see our wonderland I wunderland exhibition at the NordseeMuseum, Nissenhaus, in Husum, Germany – here’s a short movie to give you an idea … – and to let you know what people who went thought about it.
And if you like the music in this short clip – produced by our friend Wolfgang Meis – it is taken from the soundtrack of our movie „looking for wonderland“, which we will soon release in combination with a photobook.

I’m thinking of the words in Ohio, the beautiful Lambchop song, while looking and reading through LBM’s Dispatch #1 Ohio. They say that the „… LBM Dispatch is an irregularly published newspaper of the North American ramblings of photographer Alec Soth and writer Brad Zellar.“ And they say this #1 is about them traveling through a dozen towns and cities throughout Ohio in search of community life.
Well, I say Ohio is a treat – the photography, the sequencing, the writing. Made me subscribe to future issues of the Dispatch … maybe you should too? Have a look – here …
The German Federal Ministry of Labor started an initiative called Perspektive 50 Plus, which is a program to improve the chances of long term unemployed people aged 50 and older to once again find a job. One of their activities was a photography competition which lead to a series of postcards they now use as promotional material, distributed at events and/or to companies and organizations. To cut the long story short, one of my manpower photographs was selected to be one of only 20 images used for the postcards. Nice …
The eternal city invites you to look at and think about what remains of 20th century work – at The 2012 FOTOGRAFIA – Festival Internazionale di Roma. Among the exhibitions there will a special photobook feature, curated by Douglas Stockdale, photographer and author of the photobook blog. Work is the theme – and Douglas selected my book manpower, about workers and their working environments in small to medium sized companies, to be one of the 35 books presented, among others alongside Rob Hornstra’s Sochi Singers, Pieter Hugo’s Permanent Error and Christian Patterson’s Redheaded Peckerwood.
As visitors of the photobook exhibition you will be able to go through all the books, but you will also experience work via prints of one double spread per book that Douglas asked each of the selected photographers to submit. The festival will start tomorrow at the MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma and will be open until October 28th.
